Wyerton, ON CAN
Event. Celebration. Reunion. Meal. Portable.
The project was a celebration of the culture of food and gathering. Compact and portable, with a series of simple joints for easy construction, the entire dining set was driven 300kmthen carried several hundred meters to site. As such, a lightweight stretcher was made with fabric and wood and foldable seats with handles carried everything each individual needed for the meal. Walnut and cherry woods offered rich colours, while above a web of string created a sense of place.
Rocks found on site were used as a ballast for strength in the table, which aligned towards the water. The meal itself was a series of dishes that each addressed a different period of local history.
