The need for temporary housing is real, but established communities don't want a disruptive collection of tents or sheds next door. Concerns for safety, security and home value all have to be rightfully considered.
This Tiny Homes neighbourhood proposal draws inspiration from clean but affordable minimalism for a more desirable modern aesthetic.
The site layouts aim to be resourceful - taking queues from existing access and public ways, while the radial strategy balances community with privacy,

Healthier material selections to help provide a calming and healing environment, with views to greenery, while maintaining privacy



Dream Scenario
The ideal scale was tested, aiming to provide 25 tiny homes, communal facilities and in-house kitchen, with an additional provision for outdoor gathering spaces and vegetable gardens as part of the vision for on-site social programming and education programs.

We ended up looking for sites that we ideally 0.5 to 1 hectare.

Testing Sites
Different sites were explored on city land and private, with the goal of a 2 year pilot project close to essential and wraparound social services.
The layout was applied and adapted to optimize opportunities on each site, and evaluate the feasibility.

A staging site is selected, so that at least the team can start building the units. They'll be ready to use in place, or move to the right location and can avoid any delays to hit the 'Go' button when the time comes.
